2. Starting the Game

2.1 Conserving Battery Life

Pokémon Go uses a lot of data because it incorporates google maps and uses GPS. Luckily, there are a few things you can do to save on battery life. First of all, you will want to turn off the sound on your phone as well as the bluetooth and wifi if you are not using them.

Lastly, go to the setting tab  and make sure battery saver is checked. This will blacken the screen when you turn your phone upside-down. You will still vibrate if you come close to a pokémon.

2.2 Pikachu as a starting Pokémon

You can choose Pikachu as your starting Pokémon. That’s Right! Simply refuse the 3 regular choices multiple times until they go away. Pikachu will come on the screen and you may choose him!
